IT'S TIME TO BOYCOTT THE NFL

Why It's Time To Boycott The NFL

I've been an NFL fan for over 50 years. I enjoy watching games (from home only), betting and fantasy related contests. With each passing year of getting increasingly screwed by the NFL, I feel that a 1 year boycott is needed to reclaim our power as fans.

As things currently stand, the NFL has no regard for how their money grubbing aspirations are impacting their true fan base.

The NFL has abandoned their fans — chasing profit, foreign markets, and streaming deals while treating longtime supporters like an afterthought.

For decades, fans have poured their time, money, and passion into the NFL. But today, the league has made it painfully clear: the loyalty doesn’t go both ways.

Instead of respecting the people who fill the stadiums and fund the sport, the NFL has chosen to prioritize:

  • Foreign games that take home-field advantage away from American fans

  • Streaming‑only broadcasts that force viewers into new subscriptions

  • Outrageous parking and concession prices that make attending a game unaffordable

  • Corporate decisions that enrich billionaire owners while squeezing everyday supporters

In 2026, the NFL has 9 games scheduled outside of the USA with the Jags and Niners playing two.

There will be over 20 games only available via a streaming service.

1. Netflix — 4 exclusive games

Week 1: 49ers vs. Rams (Melbourne)

Thanksgiving Eve: Packers vs. Rams

Christmas Day Doubleheader: 2 games

2. Amazon Prime Video — 18 exclusive games

All Thursday Night Football games (Weeks 2–17)

Black Friday Game: Broncos vs. Steelers

3. Peacock — 1 exclusive game

Week 17: Jan. 2 exclusive Peacock game (NBC does not air it)

The message is obvious: The NFL wants your money but cares nothing about you!

I'm all for players and owners being fairly compensated but it seems the current prices for tickets, parking and concessions are way over the line.

The most powerful boycott would come in the form of fans not attending games in person. Imagine one week of stadiums being shown as half full. It would take a season long boycott though to truly get the NFL to come to the table.

A one‑year boycott would send a message louder than any chant in any stadium. If fans simply stopped going to games—no tickets, no parking fees, no $18 beers, no $40 nachos—the NFL would feel it instantly. Stadium revenue is one of the league’s biggest cash streams, and without it, the billionaire owners who have grown rich off fan loyalty would finally be forced to pay attention. Watching on TV still lets you enjoy the sport, but withholding in‑person spending reclaims the only real leverage fans have left: their wallets. One season of empty seats would remind the NFL who actually holds the power.

Here are the reasonable demands that I'm asking of the NFL:

  1. Put Thursday night games back on the major networks - ESPN would be OK as a compromise.

  2. There can only be 2 overseas games per year (so 4 teams / 2 home games sacrificed) and it's a different team every year until all 32 have played an overseas game.

  3. There can only be 1 game per year per streaming service - Netflix and Prime only.

  4. Bring parking and concession prices back to reasonable levels.
